Funds needed

Unlike the youth and student organisations linked to the major political parties such as Labour, Conservative and the Lib Dems, Communist Students does not rely on a rich parent organisation or any other rich benefactors. Yet we need money to pursue our political work. Campaigning costs money. Our intervention at this years National Union of Students conference, for example, will not come cheap thanks to the high price of booking stalls, rooms, etc. And then there are all the leaflets and a special fifth edition of our newspaper, Communist Student, to print. We also have the costs of an intervention at the March 29 Socialist Youth Network conference to consider, as well as our egular local work.

We rely on the generosity and commitment of our members, and supporters from the wider student movement and left more generally, to raise the necessary funds. Often this can mean that we are able to do less than we would like. What we really need is regular and dependable income so that we can plan ahead and give serious expression to our politics. If you are sympathetic to our project, or simply appreciate some of the work that we do, then we would like you to consider helping us. A seemingling small donation of £2 a month can really make a difference if others do the same too. Obviously the bigger the donations the better, but don’t let modesty make you shy away completely! Alternatively, if you can’t make a regular commitment, you can make a one off donation by sending a cheque, made payable to “Communist Students,” to: Communist Students, C/o BCM BOX 928, London, WC1N 3XX, United Kingdom.
