Explaining the resistance

‘Communists in the French Resistance’ Part 1

‘Communists in the French Resistance’ Part 2

Matthew Cobb communist and author of ‘Resistance: The French Fight Against the Nazi’s’ spoke on the role of communists in the movement to expel the Nazi occupiers and overthrow the colloborationist government under Marshall Petain. He gave comrades an account of the myriad of resistance groups and the oppression they faced both in the occupied and non-occupied zone. Alongside the meeting comrades read his article in the Weekly Worker ‘Lions led by Donkeys’: http://www.cpgb.org.uk/worker/787/lionsled.php  His book is an excellent read and will be out in paperbook next year whilst the hardback is around £10 on Amazon and can always be ordered in by your University of local library. Go and read it.

This is the third part of Manchester Communist Students series ‘Revolutionary France’. We have one session left which will be on December 8 at 6pm in the University of Manchester Students’ Union. The meeting will focus on the New Anticapitalist Party in France. Tina Purcell who attended the founding conference of the NPA will be speaking.
