I first became a student at the same time as you and was very active in SWSS at the time. Where were you studying?

It is a good point that more polytechnical education must also be free. Indeed we should also be trying to break down the false barrier between &#039;academic&#039; and &#039;vocational&#039; aspects of education. A division of labour between theorists on one side and grunts on the other is anathema to us.

		<description>I was a student back at the begining of the fees/grants issue, back then i argued in my SWSS group that we ought to advance the slogan of free education and training, ie the same treatment for students on an academic path (history, math, philosophy etc as for workers wanting to learn a practical trade (bricklaying, computer programming, hairdressing, catering, medicine etc..)

It didnt go down well back in the day, and i was basically ignored by the SWP cadre  but surely its a valid point?
